Upgrade to 1.10.1 from 1.2.4

Hi,

Have CMSMS 1.2.4 installed and now wish to upgrade to present version.

I read that it was not advised to upgrade directly from the old version to the present one (1.10.1).

What is your recommendation (with arguments)?
- Which exact releases should I upgrade to (there has clearly been a great number of releases since 1.2.4) before I can reach 1.10.1?
- Is there a smoother way to get the present version (i e make 1.10.1 as an entirely new installation)? If so, what do I need to take into consideration in regard to present content, stylesheets, addons, etc?

Best regards,
Cecilia

I was able to:
start from 1.5.2
upgrade jump to 1.9.4.3
finally upgrade 1.10.1

take care of this:
CMS SITE wrote:Unstable or Older Releases
All releases are available in the file release system
Be aware no versions below v1.9.4 are compatible with MySQL 5.5+
anyway ....

the modules you added: check and be sure about compatibility before starting

Thank you for your reply. That's great to know. Did you experience any kind of challenge that I should be aware of or did it work without problems following the instructions?

Does anybody else know if I can go from 1.2.4 directly to 1.5.2? Or which versions I need to upgrade to before upgrading to 1.5.2?

Best regards,
Cecilia

See at changelogs: Version 1.3 "Cuba" -- June 7, 2008 is a big upgrade in my opinion. Are you upgrading alive or you think to work on a duplicate site ? I prefer the second ....

Hello and thanks,

I'm considering making a brand new installation of the latest version since it seems to be somewhat unclear which versions to upgrade to in order to get to the latest version. The risk of encountering problems should increase by every upgrade, I guess.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.

Best regards,
Cecilia
