If have done an new installation instead of upgrading my site. Now I get the default CMS welcome screen and not my site.
I have restored my database but I still get the wrong site content.


What must I do to restore my site?

1. I have downloaded cmsmadesimple-1.10-full.tar.gz from cmsmadesimple.org
02. I have downloaded cmsmadesimple-1.10-full-checksum.dat from cmsmadesimple.org

12. I Choose cmsmadesimple-1.10-full-checksum.dat and start the test
13. I choose "weiter" (german for "next", checksums were all ok)
14. test for all all necessary setting were ok, so I choose "weiter"
15. "inmask test " was ok so I choose "weiter"
16. I filled in name and password (used salted password)
17.I filled "name of Website", time zone, db-type, db-host, db name, usrr name, password and click "weiter"
(I wounder that I have to set DB names, but thought I the reason is the big step from 1.9.4 to 1.10)
18. Installation was done successfully so I choose "weiter"
19. I got in step 7 the message

• - Die Seitenhierarchie wird aktualisiert ... [erledigt]
  - Die Core-Ereignisse werden erstellt ... [erledigt]
  - Die Module werden installiert ...

Last sentence is something like "installing modules..." in English
Nothing more - thats it.
After 1 hour I access my homepage an it shows the default CMS welcome screen.
Then I remember that I had to run "upgrade.php" instead of a new installation.
20. I restored my SQL DB with PHPmyadmin
21. I have cleared the cache

Still got the default CMS welcome screen.

In the CMS content page ([site]/admin/listcontent.php I can see the (wrong) default content, so the new installed db seem to be active.

I know I have done wrong as I did an install instead of upgrade.
I thought I just have to restore the old DB.
I think I missed something to restore my page

And I really hope that this information is detailed enough

and so I thought I do not have to save more than DB an config.php to save the content.

Ok reading your steps, you still have files in /uploads folder that you used for your theme and content i assume?
And you have now 1.10 files on your server using 1.9.4.3 DB Backup?

Well ok fine it can't work like that, so first backup your /plugins, /modules and /uploads folders so you have at least something in case you didn't delete something in the meanwhile

Option A)
Delete content from /tmp folder (it's same as clearing cache in backend)

Now type in your browser mydomain.de/install/upgrade.php and run upgrade.
During this process your DB scheme should be upgraded to current and upgrade successful.

Make sure that Modules, Plugins and UDT's are 1.10 compatible as written in Announcement.

Option B)
Delete content of /tmp folder as mentioned above

Grab a copy of CMSMS Version you had install (i assume 1.9.4.3) unpack it and upload

Type in your browser mydomain.de/install and run install process, but !!! on step 5 uncheck last two options where it says "create table" and "install sample data" !!!

Now you should have a working site like it was before install/upgrade if everything runs smooth.

That is absolute right.

I give option A) a quick change but I still got the CMS default welcome screen instead of my content.

I will try option B) but I may take some time.

Your are right, I've installed the last 1.9.4.x Version (1.9.4.3)

ok, I have downgraded to 1.9.4.3, restored the database again as described in option b).

I got my page again

Only if I accessing the root [site.com] there is red error message on my site like "The direct call is not possible. Please link the code correctly!" or something like this (I retranslate the German message, so it is not the exact phrase)

Never mind. I have uploaded the 1.10 code again and now I run [site.com]\install\upgrade.php.

The upgrade runs without error. I got a message that the Schema-Version was updated from 34 to 35.

The upgrade stopped with step 6. Different from other upgrades there are no links to [site.com] or [site.com]\admin\

After clearing cache again I got a absolute blank site, no content.


What have I done wrong this time?

I have done some more test:

I restored 1.9.4.3 again.

I also got a blank page with this version.

If I try to call
[site.com]/admin/login.php
or just try to access [site.com]/admin/
I got a error page: "Server or file not found"



I can see all files on the server with Filezilla

Can anyone help me to understand what is going wrong?

Did you also restore the database?

Do you have a full backup of files and database you can revert to?

Yes of course, I did it as mentioned in b).

I do have the database backup , the config.php backup and a fresh uploaded 1.9.3.4 set of files.

The first times I did all in b) i got on the root of my [site.com] a red error message like "The direct call is not possible. Please link the code correctly!" or something like this (I retranslate the German message, so it is not the exact phrase)

Now I got a blank page and, that's really annoying, I can not access the admin page, because my browser told my that the server or page was not found. With filezilla everything seems ok.

Check your server error log, it's probably one module causing the issue. You can rename the folder of the suspect to see if that helps.
