Legal Notice: unless other wise stated these are open source templates that i am porting over to CMSMS for us to use...
/end of legaleez....  ;)

i've ported another new template to CMSMS...
and yes i can put it up on the templates page if someone can tell me why some of them give a DTD Mismatch error as i and others have posted in other threads, i mean i will but.. you might get the error mess...

i've been using the 0.13-beta4 "Canary" because the last time i tried to update, it started eating my pages, move pages up the menu order and now they are gone type of thing, but i do have a test install of the latest and can import them to it and i don't get an error but have had other people contact me with the error thing from my templates...
maybe i should import to the test site then export from there?
anyways if i can get some testing done in other browsers, not Ff, i would be grateful... thanks for letting me ramble on...  ;)

i've been using the content block title thing to put a title on every 'box' including the {content} box so it can be titled diff. than the page title eg., not the {title} tag

Hi Mark,

Firstly, well done. It's good to see someone developing on the design side of the CMS. We have more than enough module creators already.  ;D

Now...without sounding too facetious, I'd like to make just two wee suggestions.

Firstly, it would be really nice to see some more templates that (a) don't rely on javascript and (b) ones that are still navigable when javascript is disabled. Accessibility is a very real and improtant issue. The CMS prides itself on using only valid XHTML and CSS code, as well as complying with at least level 1 and 2 checkpoints of the WCAG guidelines.

Secondly, do you think you could find a way to shorten this sentence on your website? I passed out at work while reading it aloud to a colleague and required subsequent resuscitation.  :P

Don't let my using the word system scare you into thinking this is some hard to use, hard to learn process it's just some software that is installed on a server that has a user friendly interface that only requires you to login and create content if that's all you want to do, if you are more inclined to change things and are comfortable with and have some working knowledge of HTML and CSS you can make changes to the design and look of your site simply enough.

english major i'm not...  :D
not sure how would it be worded ?... any ideas...
hope the resuscitation came out ok.. i've no insurance.. hope yours is up to date... :o

as for the javascript i use it 99% for styling as in the rounded without images templates, and if you disable JS they still show up fine minus some header images on a few...
as far as WCAG guidelines you can allways use the accessablity menus in place of the ones i've used....

i've run most of my templates thru the validaters and the only thing that chokes is the CSS because of the hacks i've had to use for that oh so wonderful browser known to some as Internet Exploder  :D

Hey cool designs, nice work!

Im new to CMSMS, but its nice to see that there are templates being churned out. One step closer to ending ugly webpages on the internet!

The DTD mismatch thing is because I changed the "Data Type Definition" between 0.12 and 0.13 (I think that was when) to account for menu manager templates, etc). it's actually a safety thing with a bad error message (unless your're a geek).  it means that there's a version incompatibility.

So the others that are trying to open your themes are probably running 0.12

ok so how do i fix it so this don't happen...
can i edit the .xml file or just have diff. ones for diff. vers., i could do a clean install of 0.12 and export from that...
would have to copy/paste a lot of files over...
can't seem to stop porting templates... got the fever BAD  :D
may run out soon... can't find enuf good looking layouts...

Yeah, I think you'd have to do it from 0.12 and export different versions.

Could you send me an example of a .xml file that has  the javascript problem in it.  I have the energy to take a look at that now.

sure here's the error from one... file is below it was made 5/7/06... they are using the latest Canary... had to send them copy/paste text files

Thanks for the speedy reply Mark. I have obviously done something wrong with my CMSMS install as this is the message I get when I use Theme Manager to try and upload your theme…

Theme Manager

Warning: file_get_contents(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/tmp/php62z6Sv) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/h/heritr/:/usr/local/lib/php) in /home/h/heritr/www/cmsms/modules/ThemeManager/ThemeManager.module.php on line 829

Warning: file_get_contents(/tmp/php62z6Sv): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /home/h/heritr/www/cmsms/modules/ThemeManager/ThemeManager.module.php on line 829

Error!

DTD Version mismatch, cannot import

Some of the ones from free-css-design would be good, especially the business styles:

lgblue
lightbiz
orange
orangew2

and if allowed the internet series from solucija.com

HI Mark, I've just found CMSMS an hour ago and can't believe I've finally found gold!

I've been searching the internet for yonks [months] and testing so many solutions, but CMSMS looks like 'the one' ... and then I found the Forum, and then I found your templates.

So far I've only looked at Panoramica and I'M IN LOVE!!!!!

So, if I download CMSMS right now, how do I then get to use the Panoramica template?

I'm a newbie, so any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I have had a brief play with Joomla and Mambo, and uploaded templates into them, so if it's something simple then I'm sure I'll be able to do it.

PS - here's a quick sample rewrite for your main page on your templates:

Throughout this site you'll find pages using different templates. Some are the same template with different color schemes, or a different menu and layout. Some of the pages are used to highlight the diversity allowed within this content management system [CMS Made Simple].

Please don't don't be scared by my use of the word 'system' - this is an easy to use, easy to learn process.  It's basically software which is installed on a server [a remote computer] which has a user-friendly interface [if you can point-and-click you'll be fine].

All you'll need to do is to login and create your content - it's so easy! If you're a bit more adventurous and you are more inclined to change things  around a bit [perhaps you are comfortable with and have some working knowledge of HTML and CSS], then you can make changes to the design and 'look' of your site very easily. Look around I'm sure you will agree this truly is Content Management Made Easy!

Cheers
WebGirl!
