[solved] Where should I create the sql database and why

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] Where should I create the sql database and why

Post by Fefanatic »

ing?
Hi, new here. I downloaded CMS and was able to extract the files and load onto my Godaddy web hosting site. I got the config menus and all went well until I got to creating a SQL database. I created a database on the server and named it but cms won't connect to it. I loaded a copy of mysql 5.5 onto my laptop and tried to create the database but I lack the knowledge to get it done.
Do I have to create the database locally and upload it or am I correct in creating the database on the web server.
Either way the cms config program is not recognizing it. I did walk through all the requirements that the cms system needed with the Godaddy folks and it appears that there are no compatibility issues. I created a couple of databases in both sql 4.1 and 5.0.
I hope someone can get me through this hump without much trouble. Any help appreciated.

Solved my own problem after hours of frustration. I realized that I couldn't access the sql database through the web server. The password assigned wouldn't work. I reset it 3 times to no avail and finally deleted the the database and created another one. After verifying the password worked I had to point to a new location for the database in the cms setup program. Got it working at 1am this morning.
