I have been trying to setup my CMS Mailer for a while and just can't seem to get it to work. Again, I have never had this problem before with setting up any of my other sites, not sure why I am having such difficulties with 1and1.com hosting account.

So I am using the following settings:

Method: SMTP option
SMTP host name: localhost <-- did not work so I tried smtp.1and1.com and still nothing
Port: 25
From Address: domain@corresponding.com
Sendmail location: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication: checked!
Username: correct
Password: correct

The test is not working

Can anyone help me or give some suggestions based on the provided info? I appreciate it, thanks!

Thank you for your post, however this is not the problem, my email is actually working fine on my iPhone and Outlook... the problem I am having is with setting up the CMS Mailer on my site to send out.
FYI - I did go through this entire document, and I did try some different settings but still not working. I tried setting the Encryption method to SSL - but nothing. I also tried changing the port # as suggested by this document (587) - but again nothing.

Do you think that it has anything to do with the following 2 settings:

SMTP host name: right now I have smtp.1and1.com

Sendmail location: right now I have the default /usr/sbin/sendmail

Thank you for everyone's help!

Got it!

So I called the support team, and I guess they have a specific sever that is set up for website applications... just in case this helps someone else, the SMTP host name (for 1and1) is: mrelay.perfora.net

Thanks!
