Search Module not very good at searching?

I recently moved a site from Joomla to CMSMS and in doing so changed the URL structure of the site. In order to try and ease the process of finding pages based on the old URL system, I made a dynamic 404 page that grabs the URL and sticks it into the search module and runs a query. This works pretty great, but I noticed the Search Module acting strangely. I've done many CMSMS installs in the past and it's possible I never paid much attention...

For example, doing a search for term will bring back page results, but searching term term (the same word repeated) will return zero results. Or, searching something like term other words may return a page based on term but searching term other wordsss (notice the last is spelled wrong) will again return zero results, not even any pages based on term. Is it just me, or does the Search Module not search very well? Is there any way to increase the accuracy? Is this a bug?!

I'm running 1.9.4.2 Faanui. Anyone else notice similar issues?

For example:

Go to this site and search "music" and then search "music music" in the top search bar:

http://www.top40charts.net

You'll notice the second search query will return "No Results Found". Odd?

(Notice - I didn't make the above site, I found it on the CMSMS Show Off forum)

good this has been mentioned ;) (i also own top40charts.net)

i did look for some kind of better search engine addon or module, that could capture the kind of search queries you state

+ i would really love to have the search results somehow highlighted on the resulting pages ;)

cheers

What do you mean with updates?

Unless you've submitted a bug report or future request, there's not much going to happen.

ahhh, sorry about that, i assumed that when something like this was posted in the forum, it may get looked at.

not sure if its a bug though, maybe more a request to have the search function better

Our developers are pretty busy and can't be all over the forums all the time.

In the Forge you'll find the option to either submit a Bug or submit a Future Request

But what is the problem exactly? What exactly is not functioning correct or should be different?
Cause the initial poster is talking about a lot of different things.

Having read this thread a few times over the past few weeks - I have to scratch and shake my head in wonder - Might I ask who on earth and why is anyone going to write "music music" or "term term" into a search. If those phrases don't exist on any website pages then a search will not detect them. Judging by the results logged on my main site which presently has over 450 pages visitors are successfully getting excellent results accessing pages from the search words and phrases used. I cannot detect any instances of a visitor searching for a repeated word. It would of course be interesting to introduce a repeated word into the content of a page to see whether the search module is able to detect it. Try it - it works!
If I may suggest - perhaps incorporating Google site search may be an alternative for more generalized search results.
