Migration and module_search_index problem

Hi, we run a news site http://www.acento.com.do and had to disable the search module.
We recently moved to a different server and after moving we found out that the server was being crippled by to many queries trying to insert data to the _module_search_index table.
On Monday we gave a go and tried to enable the search again and once more we registered a huge amount of queries to the _module_search_index table. We had to reboot the server and disable the search.
We really need the search module for this site, why is this happening and how can we correct this situation?
The site is running the latest version of CMSMS (1.9.4.1)
