Just a brainstorm on new menu system

I have thought about menu system similar to mambo 
, where user can create different menues, and link items to existing content (static pages, external links).
Main options would be adding of custom menu items, multiple static (user manageable) menus. Is anyone doing similar project/s? also i will be glad to hear suggestions about such menu system, if it is not done yet:).
Any oppinions
also will be glad to hear critique. If there will be positive replys, I think I will try to develop such menu system
