Pretty URL Crashing System

Hi,
I have successfully installed version 1.9.3 and can also confirm that apache mod_rewrite is on.
I have updated config.php for pretty url's but when I load the .htaccess file into the root everything crashes. Any ideas please - files below. Thank you.
