will there be a replacement for the edit tag?

Since {edit} is deprecated and will be removed as of cmsms version 1.9, will there or is there an alternative replacement for it so that I can link directly to edit pages from the front end? I googled but found no answer as of yet.

You do know that you have to be logged in to the backend/admin to see that tag on the front end and clicking it takes you to that page in the backend to edit page...

The tag has been deprecated, but not removed - it's still there.
If you read the "Help" for the tag, you'll see that it "will be removed from distribution at a later date".
