CMSMailer

Post by Guy »

I have installed on Yahoo CMSms 1.9.2 "Tevairoa." Yahoo uses an Apache server,PHP Version 5.2.12 and MySql 4.1.14. Everything appears to be working. I have created templates and pages that appear fine. During installation I had a red X next to fopen and have not been able to resolve it, but I don't think that is my problem.

I am having trouble configuring the CMSMailer module. I called Yahoo and they were of limited help. They clamied SMTP is correct and suggested port 587. The mail path /usr/sbin/sendmail was confirmed as correct. They claimed smpt authentication is required but not if port 587 is used. Yahoo and I could not figure out what user name and password to use. The username and password for access to the Yahoo web control panel did not help.

You should also know that CMSms is installed as a subdirectory on a working site, http://www.circletail.org. We are redoing the site and plan to use CMSms for the site. The site now has a number of forms on the site that use PHP to email form info to various addresses. The PHP for the forms is loaded onthe Yahoo server and is configured to use port 25 and /usr/sbin/sendmail . It works fine.

My questions:

Do we need the CMSMailer to be functional?
Can someone help me with filling in the blanks on the CMSMailer module for a Yahoo server?
I would appreciate all suggestions.

There is no hurry. I like CMSms so far.

Thanks,

Guy

I actually figured it out. It worked when I used sendmail instead of SMTP.
