News - prevent google from indexing

We are using a news-module (v2.9) and have multiple categories to filter on. But unfortunately google is indexing all the news items and we don't want that. Basically we have two kind of news-articles those which are public and those which aren't. The discriminator is set as the category.
1. Is it possible to prevent bots from indexing the news-articles? If so, how? I assume I should add a meta tag "noindex" somewher but i don't know where in the template.
2. Is it possible to prevent bots from indexing some of the categories of the news-articles?
