[solved] CGFeedmaker not working and modules borked from upgrade :(

Hi guys,

Hopefully someone can shed some light on what's happening here. I have a site that I updated to 1.9 over the weekend. I realised this morning that the news feed on the frontpage was acting up.

I use CGFeedmaker to create the feed first and then RSS2HTML to put the feed back on the mainpage to link through to the news section of the site.

Thinking it was just a problem with the version I updated CGFeedmaker, still not working. So I delete the feed from CGFeedmaker and try recreate it thinking that's the problem. I could delete it fine but when I tried recreating the feed the page didn't complete the action to create the feed. It sort of well hung looking like the 'successfully created feed' page wasn't loading at all.

This I thought odd so I removed the CGFeedmaker module thinking I'll reinstall it. When I go to reinstall CGFeedmaker I get the exact same issue as above. It looks like it has completed the work but then the page hangs and doesn't load. If I try to install other modules the same problem is occurring.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Ok... getting somewhere slowly. I've removed the CGFeedMaker and installed from XML. Now I need to upgrade the CGExtensions module. In the upgrades section though in the Module Manager the Status/Action column for CGExtensions is report 'cannot download'.

Any ideas?

You could download CGE from the dev.cmsmadesimple.org and then install from Extensions->Modules by using the Install-browser at the bottom.

Hi Ronny,

Thanks for you reply. I gave that a go and chose to overwrite current module in place but I got the following error:

Could not create a file (permissions problem?) /modules/CGExtensions/templates/orig_sortablelist_template.tpl

The folder ownership is not Apache or HTTP it's for the account user and i've set the folder permissions to 777.

Any ideas?

Anyone have any ideas how to upgrade CGExtensions without just deleting the folder and possibly borking any other modules that rely on it?
