Its absolutely no meaning to make a comaparison chart! Its only the two latest versions that are supported anyway - so yo have no reason to comapare them...
Realy read the changelogs and you see why!

You are asking one of the dev team: "I know you've worked long and hard for the development and it's cool that it's free and all. But could you just give me a short summary whether or not it is worth for me to reap the fruit of your labour?"

I do Not understand this kind of attitude.

In short, issues and security-fixes have been made since then. Since 1.5.4 some security-issues have been addressed.

Only last and semi-last version is supported. People can run older version, but we cant hunt for issues that arise in that version, or regarding module-behaviour on that version.

Besides those issues/security-fixes, new features have been introduced which are listed in the changelog doc where reneh is pointing at.

Well, if you don't miss any features and your site is working well (so you don't need any support) and if you don't care about the security stuff ... stay with 1.5.

Never change a running system ;)

But if you plan to improve your sites functionalities, if you're dealing with certain problems, bugs, security stuff or incompatiblity of modules etc. an upgrade is highly recommended.

Notice that CMSms lower than 1.7 will not run on PHP 5.3.
So if your provider is about to upgrade the PHP version to 5.3 and will not provide PHP 5.2 anymore you also will need to upgrade.

Due to security i would recommend to upgrade at least whenever a security fix is out.

However upgrading from older versions (more than one version back) will sometimes cause some trouble due to many changes. So it would be better to update frequently.
