Hi,

This is my first post, cmsms looks really useful to me, now I'm learning about it.

I've already set up latest cmsms version.

Website I'm experimenting on is http://www.spanishtranslation.ws/

Link on the menu bar points to http://www.spanishtranslation.ws/index.php/home

Why can't link point directly to base url?

Also, when I click on "home" I get a 404 error, why is this happening?

Open up config.php.  Change the internal_pretty_urls and use_hierarchy options to false.  That should solve the problem.

I started installation and everything up from scratch.

Now, when I scroll over navigation menu links I see pretty urls such as http://www.spanishtranslation.ws/content_types.html

But when I click on them, I get a 404 error.

I've uploaded a htaccess file that looks like this:

I also cleaned my browser's cache but problem persists.

What am I doing wrong?

rename htaccess to .htaccess (notice the dot in the beginning, its important  )

Added the dot and still not working.

Also tried changing file extension from .txt to nothing (don't know if this means anything) and still not working. 

Anything on the server logs?

You can always change your settings to normal urls by setting $config['assume_mod_rewrite'] = false;
