I had used one of the old CMS MS MLE versions some time ago. Now I was searching for MLE version again but under Modules the link is empty. Is there any possibility to get a version of CMS MS MLE? Is there a MLE 1.8 under developmet? Thanks for your anwsers.

If you read this post:  http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,38405.0.html You will see that the 'MLE fork' was an unauthorized fork and not supported or endorsed by the CMSMS Dev team.  And that since October of 09 it has been scheduled for removal from our site.

Your posting about the MLE fork here proves yet again that this fork's existence and it's name confuse people into thinking that it is an official part of CMSMS, whereas it is not.  This therefore is detrimental to the goodwill that we have built and continue to build with CMSMS.

I contacted the author of this fork at the time of that post, and again a month ago to facilitate moving the fork.   He has not been around enough to facilitate moving things along so it has been removed.

The author will have to setup his own website, change the name of the fork, and re-release it under a different name where he clearly states that it is in no way connected to CMSMS other than being an unauthorized fork.

Calguy...
does  this mean the end of multilingual sites with cmsms?
I would be sad, if so....

With the basic CMS Made Simple core functions it is very easy to create your own Multilingual website.
And using the new url options of release 1.9 it will be even nicer.

I will post a topic on this in the Tips & Tricks section soon.

Hi, I never knew that this was going to happen. So now I'm stuck with a multilingual website and no forum to look into. My most recent post in the MLE forum is now also gone.

Isn't it possible to only search in the CMSMS MLE forum ? Or receive an export of the forum data, so I can look into it, or host it myself for others ?

Yes... that's weird.
It's not our fault that we used the mle stuff, is it?

Wouldn't it have been nicer to mark the mle project in the forge as deprecated? As it happens with other projects, too. And leave the forum read-only?. There are so many projects in the forge with no files. Would be nice to delete those instead of something that has thousands of downloads.
But I guess we're helpless with decisions like this. :-(

The announcement that this fork was to be removed from the CMSMS website was made in October of 09.  That's lots of notice.  Not much we can do other than provide notice.

No the forum cannot be put back up in a 'read only format'... because that will just continue the problem that we are trying to solve, and continue diluting the name of CMSMS.

I have looked at a way to try to export a portion of the forum posts, and there isn't one that I can find.  Sorry.

Your best solution would be to contact the author for the unauthorized fork, and get him excited to re-launch the project under different hosting with a new name.

I completely missed that notice, otherwise I wouldn't start building a mle site.

"Your best solution would be to contact the author for the unauthorized fork, and get him excited to re-launch the project under different hosting with a new name."

But with that we will not get all the valuable information back from the forum.

Shouldn't it be quite simple, to export an .sql file of all the posts in the MLE forum ?

It was announced a year ago, and also in the Dutch board:

obviously I --- and I guess a lot more people have chosen the wrong system then for their multilingual site :-(
( Sad to say : the  multilingual ability was a  reason to chose cmsms instead of some other system).

Again.... I think it's not the users' fault if developers have a problem with an author.
My opinion.

Then an announcement in the MLE forum would have been better.

Hi,

a couple of month's ago I asked about this matter and found a wall of silence.
No one clearly stated that the devteam discourages the use of CMSMS MLE.

After asking many people I concluded that there was something wrong and
decided to get beck to "CMSMS core" a good decision obviously.

The only question remaining is why this was so hard to state clearly, no long story
but a clear "unauthorize fork and unsupported by the CMSMS devteam".

Kind regards,
Jan
