Hello, im new to the forums, cmsms and the world of web design but ive been doing my best over the past 2 days before giving in to asking for advice but ive hit a wall and cant seam to get round it so your help would be much appreciated.

background info:
I've been trying to convert an html5 template into somthing compatable with CMSMS (swapping content with {content} and all that.

Problem: The active page isnt getting highlighted in the menu bar, although all the other menu functions seam to be working hover etc.

ive tried useing different menutemplates.tpl and am currently useing minimal_menu.tpl as the others had other problems and none of them fixed this one.

You should add class like current,active or something, but it seems you figured it out 

With usage of TinyMCE you will not realy have real HTML5 site but more of a xHTML1.0.HTML5 

And just as a note or tip HTML5 wasn't used in correct semantic way  you are lacking for navigation on top or on the side, also for sidebar could be used but it depends on content of sidebar, for articles/content should be used where for content/article title comes in and followed by also doesn't have to be used only in footer we now know as footer but is actually used for article and page notes like when article was posted and so on.

Thanks for the response i appreciate your time, but i think you may have seen it while i was playing around with it. As It's still not right ive been trying to follow this guide.

after playing around with the tpl files i finally got it to work. thanks for the advice, its much appreciated.

with menu manager if you are going to do a custom menu it is best to not mess with the actual .tpl files in the menu manager folder but to import it so on upgrade it doesn't get overwritten...
