Hi Guys

I have finnally decided its time i designed a theme for myself and move away from my default.

Is there any tips or tricks someone could share about testing a new theme on cmsmadesimple without effecting the one ive currently put live?

Any one know if a second install on a subdirectory would give me the above ability to try and test?

Id rather not pay out for a second shared site if poss.

Thanks

Russ

Why another install? You can add pages (either with setting "Show in Menu =unchecked or you could add in your default temaple to the {menu} tag exclude=alias of new pages you add) and assign new Template.

uniqu3's suggestion of setting up a hidden page or two for trying out new templates is a good one...

i use a separate install on a subdomain so i can also test out modules and what-not, too, without touching a primary site, but keeping on the same exact hosting environment (except for the htaccess rules that restrict access to it). i also have local installs (on a linux box and using xampp for windows) for the more 'dangerous' testing .

most shared accounts allow for additional subdomains, so you can setup an install at sandbox.yourdomain.com just as easily as putting one in a subdirectory.
