i then read through numerous thread on thsi forum and i tried various things that didnt work, until someone suggested removign any reference to breadcrumbs in teh template, which i did, and then my sub pages showed.
however, i still cant see them in my admin section ie. when i go to Content --> Pages, only the main pages show and the parent pages that have teh sub pages, shwo teh arrow alongside it, but it doesnt exapnd when i click on it.

So you might have already tried everything possible and therefore no one can help you out here ...
Sorry for that but more info = more help.
So what exactly did you try?
What is your CMS version?
What is your PHP version?
Maybe your webspace provider has changed something and did not tell you about that.
So check the systeminfos in backend "Admin->Systeminfo" and compere it to the min and max requirements that are needed to run CMSms.

someoen said soemthgin about makign a chnage in the function.breadcrumbs.php file, whcih i tried and that didnt help. then i thought that the seo friendly url rewrite i created in .config file, had an effect, so i changed it back to what it was - didnt help either. then i saw the thread to remove the breadcrumbs refernce altogether, which i did and it worked as the pages could now be seen online, however, i cant see them in my admin panel.
cms version - 1.7
php version - php4
no i am my web space provider (we are a reseller) so i set up my webspace and have not chnaged it since.
i just tried goign to system info, and now i get this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/sites/safe-4.co.uk/public_html/lib/test.functions.php on line 29
so weird
i did edit the admin theme last night - but it was merely changing image colours and bkgrnd colours - could this hav had an effect? i doubt it cos i didnt touch the code at all.

And you think that is okay compared to the requirements of CMSms?
I just ask because i wonder how you even could install CMSms
1.7 on PHP
4 if CMSms 1.7 requires at least min PHP
5.2.4 (or higher)?

ok, good point!
however, why woudl it work all this while just fine, and not today?
thats what i am tryign to figure out.
i installed cmsms and haev been workign on this site since almost 2 weeks ago - yet it only plays up now. i find that very strange.
nevertheless, will upgrade my php version and see if it makes a diff

ok, the upgrade has worked. i just assumed that our hosts woudl have updated teh php version to go with the cmsms version. but i just conatcted them and was told that we need to update it ourselves for an individual domain.
many thanks for your help and sorry to have been so stupid.
