trying to install 1.7 - fails on checksum

I'm trying to run the 1.7 install on my Java hosting site. Each time I run the checksum page the process appears to fail and the install process returns to the initial 'choose a language' page.

Before this I uploaded the 'cmsmadesimple-1.7-full.tar.gz' file via FTP and used my cPanel File Explorer to expand the contents. I changed the folder persmissions as outlined in the installations instructions.

In the checksum install page I select the 'cmsmadesimple-1.7-full-checksum.dat' file and then select the 'Test' button. Shortly after the process appears to fail and it returns to the 'choose a language page'

Any ideas?

Yes, I uploaded to the host site using Filezilla client.

Not sure what you mean by 'how many failures'.  There are messages shown.  As soon as I select the checksum file and then click on the 'test' or 'continue' buttons the install process starts but shortly after (without any error messages) it jumps back to the 'choose a language page'.

I presume something is crashing. The lack of debug output to log files is a serious weakness for your app.

How many files are failing?

Screenshot?

Server operating system and PHP version?

There is debug mode.

Java hosting site
What is that?

Try 1.6.7 instead.

I'm using Daily Razor (see http://www.dailyrazor.com/) as my Java host.

Is there a debug setting I can switch on to try and trace why this install is failing?

How many files are failing? If it is a very long list then you have transmission or file ownership problems. Try expanding the original archive file on your computer, and transferring that by FTP (I know that I have always recommended it the other way around...).

Shortly after the process appears to fail
I have assumed that you meant got to see a list of files that failed the checksum test.

Ok, how about just pressing the next step button?

There is no 'next step' button.  If I click the 'continue' button then it immediately returns to the starting 'select language' page

Re-Upload files extracted on your computer.

I've unpacked the files on my local PC, then used FileZilla to ftp all the individual files up to my server.

This made no difference.  When I run the install it still fails when I click on the 'continue' button.

If it helps, I can provide you with an ftp acccount to view the problem in situ.

OK, PM me FTP login. Include hosting login so I can use that File Manager.
