Reorder/arrows not working?

I just noticed that I neither can get the reorder function to work nor move pages using the arrows on the content/pages page. The link for the reorder function lists says: xyz/listcontent.php?_s_=0f2c22ee&error=jsdisabled and with the arrows nothing at all happens. I'm using CMSMS 1.5.4 and have tried this in FF 3.6, IE7 and google chrome, all with the same result so I'm starting to suspect there is something wrong with my site.
Does anyone have a suggestion to where I should start looking?
many thanks!
/Mikael

First off technically only the last 2 versions of cmsms are supported and I have heard that that version of PHP is real buggy...

The php version is unfortunately out of my hands but I guess I could try to upgrade to the latest CMSMS. I've read that other people have had issues with it, in different versions though, so I wanted to ask whether is was something that was known before I do the entire upgrade.
