TinyMCE: no vertical scroll in FF when content overflow

Hi,
I have encountered a problem when using the TinyMCE module; suddenly the other day it was noticed that when editing a page, and the content doesn't get room in the editor-box, no vertical scroll appears. The problem occurs in Firefox (3.6), Opera and Chrome, but there is no problem in Internet Explorer (8.0)!
The day before the problem was discovered CMSMS was upgraded to 1.6.7 as well as moved to an other directory on the server - which of them that might have caused the problem I don't know.
So far I have tried to fix it by uninstalling the TinyMCE-module, remove the TinyMCE-folder in "modules", and uploaded the module again and installed. But it has not helped.
CMSMS-version: 1.6.7
TinyMCE-version: 2.6.2
Hope someone has an idea about how to solve this...
Thanks beforehand.

I have the exact same problem.
Tonight I upgraded to CMSMS 1.6.7 and now TinyMCE won't work at all.
Tried deleting folder and re-uploading, but no luck.
TinyMCE can't be installed via Module Manager - I get a 'fatal' error.
Any suggestions?

Tiny problems are most times fixed by first going to tiny admin and on advanced tab just above where tiny should be click Reset all settings to default, if no work, go to extensions > modules click uninstall for tiny then in same page click install...

Hey Doctor Mark!
Thanks for the reply and your suggestion, much appreciate.
I saw on another post where you suggested to download latest TinyMCE from the Forge, so I did that, then uploaded to my hosting, and Extracted the files.
After that I could finally install it in the latest CMS! - yay!
• I now have scroll bars in TinyMCE for page Content, and
• I now have scroll bars in TinyMCE for News items
but
• I do not have scroll bars in Global Content Blocks
So it's getting better
I just clicked the RESET TO DEFAULT button in the Tiny MCE module, but GCB still the same. Will let you know if I install/uninstall and results.
At least I feel better when handing over this new site to my client today
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply Dr.CSS, and good that it mostly solved your problem WebGirl
Unfortunately none of the above solved my problem... I have even tried by reinstalling the whole CMSMS (1.7), but the same problem still occurs (no scroll for page content/news items/content blocks) - also, as suggested above, reseted all the settings and reinstalled TinyMCE, as well as looked at the latest version from the Forge (2.6.4), but since I have 2.6.5 installed I didn't download it.
Anyone with more suggestions? :)

Hi there,
I suggest you try using CMS in different browsers, as Firefox has recently made changes in the latest version which affected the way my CMS works.
After selecting Firefox / Preference / Clear Cache (Mac), it solved a few TinyMCE issues I was having, as well as website display annomalies.
Good luck!

Hi Zanga, here is my list that I've gone through, which might help:
-- does TinyMCE appear in the Modules dropdown menu in your CMS?
-- can you access the TinyMCE settings page?
-- have you checked your files in your hosting account and made sure all TinyMCE folders are set to CHMOD 755, as well as the Modules folder?
-- have you cleared the Cache in CMSMS - Site Admin / Global Settings / Advaned Setup / Clear Cache?
-- have you tried CHECKSUM to see if there are any problems?
-- have you uninstalled Tiny via CMS, then deleted the whole folder from your site? if yes, then :
>>> download
Tiny 2.6.4 .xml file from the Forge
http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/project/files/12
>>> upload to your site
>>> in CMSMS go to Extensions / Modules - make sure Tiny shows as 'uninstalled' in this list
>>> now at bottom of this screen, use the UPLOAD to grab the xml file from your desktop, and check "Overwrite existing modules:"
>>> in your hosting account, refresh the files (for good measure)
>>> now go to one of your pages and see if TinyMCE is visible, if yes, select Tiny from dropdown menu on Modules, and update the settings as required.
These are all the things I have been doing, and my most recent issues with Tiny were Firefox-only.
If you're still stuck, take a screenshot video of what's happening (using Jing Pro or ScreenJelly.com or your computer's own video capture), and post here. That might help someone else see where the problem may be.
I do hope this helps

- I can access the settings.
- I modified the permisions.
- I cleared the cache.
- The checksum appears to ve ok.
- I tried reinstalling.
But it still refuses to appear in the editing box.

Oh boy that sucks!!
I'm not sure what else to recommend ...
I just looked at one of my cms installations.
I selected Extensions / TinyMCE
when the page appears, there are two links -- Module Help | Community Help (new window)
Click the
Module Help link towards the top right of the page. Many modules provide a contact link or way to contact someone for more help.
On this page I just read the following:
Troubleshooting
Some people have trouble with tiny not showing up upon installation or upgrading. Here is a checklist of things you can try before contacting me for further support.
* 1. Please, please, try to reupload the modules/TinyMCE dir to your server. You'd be amazed how many times this has helped people.
* 2. Try to switch on the Static Config option. Note that this requires your /tmp/-dir to be writable by the webserver
* 3. If upgrading, please try to reset all settings. Not nice if you've done a lot of customization, I know, but a lot of things changes from 2.3.x to 2.4.x series of the module.
* 4. Try enabling the static config option in advanced settings. This works better on some systems (like CGI-based)
Item 1 is very important - this means
do NOT keep trying to install/uninstall Tiny through the CMS.
Instead, delete & upload new Tiny folder/files in your Hosting account, File Manager.
After reading the tips above, you might also like to click the Community Help link, which takes you to this page:
http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... s/TinyMC_E
Maybe there's something in here which will solve this baffling problem - I hope so!
Cheers

you only need to restrict the access right of the modules directory to 555 or, to 755 and it will work. In other words, you must at least remove the write access right for the rest of the world.
I set to 755 and now it works !
Thanks WebGirl !

Seems like people have more luck than I do
I still have the same scroll-problem in Firefox etc - and the filepermissions, which I hadn't looked at before, were already set to 755... So that didn't solve it either. Seems like I have a really strange problem

Christoffer,
Try setting all Tiny folders and modules folder, folders inside Tiny folder to CHMOD 777
Refresh your files in your hosting file manager
try Tiny
if not working, go back and set Modules folder, Tiny folder, folders inside Tiny folder - to CHMOD 755
Refresh your files in your hosting file manager
try Tiny
good luck!
