[SOLVED] Can CMSMS do this? If so, how?

Folks:

Posted a question on WebHostingTalk and was referred to CMSMS.  Looks very good so far - I'm really happy with it, and am already planning on using it for a couple upcoming projects.  However, I have a specific need for one particular site.

I need to design a web site with membership-only subdirectories.  One of the main pages in a particular subdir is a blog.  So far, so good.  Here's where I'm having a problem.

I was going to use WordPress as the CMS.  However, sites built with WP are actually in a big database.  I need tp physically place certain pages "behind the curtain" in the members-only directory.  I've found a couple CMSs that do this, but they weren't really professional, and had little or no support.

1st, is this something CMSMS can do?  And second, if so - how do I go about placing those pages via the admin panel?  The CC processor my client is using handles all the access, so on the "outside" I just need to create a registration page and it's link on the menu.  The "log-in" button will re-direct through the processor which will then drop the member into the protected directory, so I don't really need to point from the menu into the subdir.

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks in advance!

You would have to use the FrontEndUsers (FEU) and CustomContent modules. FEU allows you to maintain a list of users, who can log in from the front page. CustomContent allows you to decide which users gets access to which page.

You can download these modules from the Downloads -> Modules menu on this site.

Not what I'm looking for at all - although I do appreciate your prompt response.  All access to paid content will be handled by/through the CC processor.  I'm not going to point to the protected area at all from the main pages.  What I need to know is -

1)  Can I create stand-alone pages in a subdirectory?

2)  If so, how do I do it?

Most CMSs are database driven include are. If the pages that you are putting in the "sub-directory" are actually within CMSms then you need a way (like FEU and CustomContent) for someone not to type the page in the address bar. If you are just putting files in a folder on the server then you just put them there.

I don't know what type of system you are working with but I have never heard of a CC processor controlling access to directories.

Sounds like this setup is assuming you have a .htaccess or similar protected directory.  CMSMS isn't directory based so it probably wouldn't work.  How does the CC authenticate to the protected directory?

Client will be using CCBill to process cards, control access, and admin the affiliate program.

I'm finding that server-installed CMSs for the most part will not do what I need.  I was trying to come up with a solution where I could set it up for my client, teach her to use a web-based interface, and then let her blog away.  I'll have to move to an external (PC-based) solution.

Thanks anyway.  I do, however, plan to use CMSMS for a couple other sites.  The help and community interaction here is great!

Very best,
