I'm just wondering if I could use CMSMS for a dating community ...
anybody did this before ? is CMSMS good for such an application ?

well I was looking at some dating scripts ...

and from my point of view, it's just a php script that has users, member pages, member search, member profiles,etc. ...... and I think CMSMS is powerfull enough to do all of this .

So I would like to make this project public and anyone who wants to add something on the road, please do .

Once again, no need to reinvent the wheel. Not only will they probably tell you what modules/custom code they used, but you will see how good it looks/works!

Well , that would really depend one what you'd want to offer... but, take a tour around the forge... all the parts are there... Really it's up to you. -J

I'll just throw out some modules that you can research on...  Front End Users, SelfRegistration, CustomContent, SimplePortal, CGUserDirectory, FEUtoPaypal

Install those modules, read this PDF article: http://calguy1000.com/downloads.html  , play around with the modules and you should be able to put something together. Good luck!

All I can say is .. formbuilder.. that is the key... I used Front End Users,formbuilder, PaypalButtonMaker, CGUserDirectory... but it's formbuilder.. that, and FEU is key...  Good luck!

Hi All, I just want to throw in a silly question, - why would you want to build something like that if something pretty perfect (and truly free/open source) already exists? If you want to do this just for the fun of it, then sure, go ahead. But if what you want is good and functional site in a matter of a few hours, that you can still play around with all you want then why not research some other options?

I love cmsms. I have recently evaluated quite a few packages and cmsms along with a couple of others (like moodle, smf,the dating cms i found, free to use, modify, distribute, resell, everything) is the best so far. I don't want to promote anything here, just ran into this dating site accidentally a few days ago, out of the rage at "free profile creation" concept throughout a few dating sites I visited, so done some instant research and a few hours later I have my own free and fully functional online dating website up and running. Not that I know what to do with it now.

One of it's best features, given my limited skill set, is instant integration with smf, that is pretty impressive. If anyone wants to take a look at it and help me implement similar transparency from cmsms to smf, - please let me know:)
