Explorer 8 causes menu flicker?

Anybody else seeing this....I've got it on my site and it shows up here on this site as well.
In Internet explorer 8 if you click on either "About" or "Downloads" (menu bar, this site) wait for the page to load, then click the other button, the menu is offset to the right about 5 pixels and then it snaps into place, sort of makes you dizzy. (sometime you need to click back and forth a few times before this shows up) Now that I look at it, it appears that the whole page is offset for a second or two. It appears to be worse the more content on the page. If you change ie to "compatibility" mode, everything is rock steady as it should be.
