I was searching in the forum about this question but i didn't find any answer to it.
What i want to know is if i can change a template made by someone else and sell it in a commercial use?
The problem is that i don't know much about making a templates from scratch, and i'm going to make a site for a family business so i need a simple way to get a template that i can change without breaking any copyrights and so on.
(I don't know if this topic was posted in the right forum)
Thaks.

It all depends what template it is, who made the template, what licensing they used and if you are going to use it for a website you are developing for someone or if you are going to resell it to numerous people (like on TemplateMonster).
If you aren't sure of the licensing I wouldn't do it because you are likely infringing on copyright.
If you post which template you are talking about we may be able to help you. However remember that non of it can be taken as strict legal advice. We're programmers, not lawyers
I'm going to move this to the Lounge since it is a fairly broad topic.

It seems that you must always make modifications to the template... Like logo, and changes needed to import into a CMS.

Personally dude i would of thought you would be okay aslong as you contact the original owner and designer for permission.
In the long run though you would be better getting photoshop and following a few tutorials on designing you own layout. I am sure some people around here are kimd enough to give you a helping hand when it comes to coding.
