Google maps with Simile Exhibit

I tried the google map modules with cmsms but found them limited compared to using the google map API directly.
I was looking for something that I could turn markers on/off and drill down to the data I wanted to display with a few clicks.
I could have used kml layers but decided to use "Exhibit" by MIT Simile

http://www.simile-widgets.org/exhibit/

I used the google spreadsheet technique to populate the data, however one can also use the Json or XML data format.

anyway this is what I ended up with, I inserted it in a iframe in the cmsms site:
http://www.comoxvalleycrimestoppers.bc. ... e=crimemap

recently I have been looking at mysql2json so perhaps there is a way to use Exhibit directly inside cmsms.
just thought I would share this very cool tool with you if you have not already heard of it...

Looks FANTASTIC, great job. Very usable and an asset for the population in that region.
Thanks for sharing!
