Blank 404 error page after upgrade

I upgraded my CMSMS from 1.0.6. to 1.6 and everything works fine now. But when I search for an unexisting URL on my site, it results in a blank page. It should show me a custommade 404-error.
How can I solve this problem?

Did you specify the error-type on the error-page?
The error-404 settings in 'Default Settings' should be off.
If this doesn't help, you have to give us more info to help you!

I'm teribly sorry for the late reaction. I was very busy.
I still have the same problem. I made some screenshots, maybe it's more clear:
I put some text in the 404-error box and it is activated. But if i search for an non-existed page on my site, it results in a blanc page.
BTW, it's version 1.6.

I looked at your website, but it is working for me...
Open
http://www.aircrafts.nl/index.php?page= ... ppijentest
B.t.w. you better create a new page and in stead of 'Content' use 'Error Page' and set Error Type 404.
This is the new way to do it...
The old way will probably be removed in coming releases.

Yeah I know. But the homepage is still running with the good old 1.0.6 version. It's this:
www.aircrafts.nl/geschiedenis
Allright, i will test it. Thanks anyway

Doesn't work either...
I test it on that way. I turned the "custom 404 error handling" in global settings on and off. But both give me a blank page.

Please check if there is any 404 code in the .htaccess file.
Some hosts put it in there and let it link to their own 404 page.
If so, the cmsms 404 page will never work...

Where is that htacces file located?
But the 404 error DOES work in the 1.0.6. version of CMS.

Niels,
some changes were made to the 404. And a search from a non-existing page did give errors earlier as well... You could overcome these, by making the 404-page a regular page, using the content-type error-page instead of the one from global-settings. The issue is that the global settings page 404, doesnt have a real page-id, so a search from there wasnt good...
In newer versions, the content-type error-page was introduced. The one from global settings will be deprecated in newer versions.
So I think that it is best for you to copy/paste the global-settings 404, to the errorpage in content.

I did. I created a normal page as an error page. But even this doesn't work as you can see in the image.

Hey Niels,
Just to make it clear...
You have two cmsms sites/databases: one in the root (1.0.6) and one in the folder 'geschiedenis' (1.6.6)
404 page works fine on 1.0.6 site, but it doesn't on 1.6.6...
Do you use external links to create the navigation in the Geschiedenis site to open pages in the root site?
And in what way do you create the breadcrumbs with the combination of two sites...
The 404 message is working on several pages but it isn't clear to me which cmsms site does the job.
f.i.
http://www.aircrafts.nl/geschiedenis/a works...
but
http://www.aircrafts.nl/geschiedenis/in ... ?page=jaar doesn't...
Can you perhaps pm me some temporarily admin login info?

Well, my site includes several error pages if a page cannot be found on the server. These work fine with non-existing folders e.g.:
www.aircrafts.nl/gesc but not for
www.aircrafts.nl/geschiedenis/index.php?page=jaar . The last one needs the 404-error from CMS MS. As I wrote before, it works fine in 1.0.6 (
www.aircrafts.nl) but not in 1.6.0 (
www.aircrafts.nl/geschiedenis).
I tested the 404-error pages (both: global settings and as a content) with and without a template but both without any result.
The menu/navigation works with:
{cms_module module='menumanager' template='Aircrafts'}
The external links in the menu are just created as a content page, but then selected as: external link.

Urr, you still use 1.6.0... I thought you had 1.6.6
Please upgrade!
In release 1.6.4 have been some changes made to the 404 function!
Perhaps your problems will be solved by this.

ps. Do you join us at the third workshop again?

You better upgrade to 1.6.6...
In the 1.6.3 is a possible leak in the cms fixed.

It is discussed in the topic.
