Reinstalling content

I had problems with my installation so deleted everything from the server, backed up my database and deleted it entirely.

Blank canvas!

I reinstalled cmsms (Scarborough), reinstalled database (other way round but you get the picture!), and logged into my site. However all my content is gone!

Excuse my ignorance but I thought all the content was contained within the database and reinstalling it would bring it back :-(

If I have lost all 110 pages of content, what should I backup in future in order not to do this again.

If otoh it's still there - how do I get at it?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, normally it should works ...

It's not easy to say what's the reason - perhaps you can tell us something more about steps you've done ...

If you are not sure please try it once again.

If you add new content, where is it going?

I got it back. I was doing things the wrong way round.
For the benfit of anyone as inexperienced as me, I dleted the cmsms again. then I reinstalled it, overwriting the existing database content (the option when you install).

Next, I deleted the database (having backed up the original), then reinstalled it again. When I went back to my site - the content had all appeared - phew!!
