piFaq not displaying questions, Glossary not displaying definitions

I'm having two similar problems with Pifaq and Glossary that lead me to believe it may have something to do with either using them with the "Fiji" release (because I've had piFaq working well on "Scasrborough"), or the way the server I am using is configured (because this job is for a client who uses a hosting company I have never used before). I can't really imagine how the server setup could be affecting this, but stranger things have happened. (like having to set sessions to auto start for protected pages).

The server is running MySQL version 4.0.20 and PHP version 4.3.11 by the looks of things. I'm not sure how the php is configured - other than Register Globals is On.

My problem is that when I try to use piFaq (by using a smarty tag in the template) it displays the categories, but when I click on the category links to get through to my questions - nothing happens, the page just seems to refresh (but the url does change in the address bar). I have created several dummy FAQs, under each of the two categories.

The problem is similar with the Glossary module. The default install conveniently adds some default terms and definitions. The terms display fine, but when clicked on... nothing happens (again the url seems to append a string to the end of itself, but no definition appears). The next, previous and index buttons don't work as expected either.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've really had a good read of any and all information that I could find. I've tried to solve this myself, rather than clutter the forum with a lazy question, but I just can't work this out.

I'm open to any suggestions here. Thanks for reading my question.

Cheers, from Aotearoa.

Hello again,

Wow, I'm really stuck here. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the modules (they are recently downloaded, so they would be the latest versions). I've spent ages searching the forums, but I can't find a similar question.

If anyone knows of a previous case like this, please point me in the right direction.

I'm a little scared about installing the 12.1 upgrade over the top of this site as it's nearly finished. I read the release notes and it didn't seem to mention fixing this problem. Am I wrong?

Please, please if you have any suggestions at all - I'd love to hear them.

Update: I found this post - http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 748.0.html and it seemed like this might be a similar problem. This led me to believe and upgrade was likely to help.

I have now upgraded to 12.1 and it hasn't helped at all. Can someone please try installing glossary or piFaq onto their version of 12.1 and then post a reply here to tell me if they could get it to work or not. That would be a great help.

Thanks again.

There were some problems with module instantiation that were fixed in the 12.1 release.  this may be your issue.

Thanks for your reply, Calguy - I know you're a busy man.

I did install the upgrade after all and the problem is still there. I just tried unistalling and reinstalling the modules now that I have upgraded. This still hasn't solved the issuse.

Should I try anything else?

I've been checking up a couple of times a day, but I haven't been able to find any new information. Is there likely to be a new (CMS) release coming any time soon, or should I try some other kind of fix?

The Glossary module still won't work with 12.1 Savusavu.

Samuel Goldstein developed the module, is it possible he might know why?

Will there be a new Glossary released any time soon?
