with mod_rewrite, cmsms creates "human-friendly" url's based upon page aliases you can define for each page of content (by default it auto-generates them). module url's are currently not, however. you can also define separate meta data for each page.

so if that falls within your definition of "seo friendly", then i guess it is.  ;)

your design also plays a large role in how "seo friendly" your site is. less clutter and more content. title and alt tags where appropriate, div/css instead of layout tables, css instead inline html tags, proper document structure (e.g. use instead of defining big font sizes), no content should only be presented as an image (e.g. a map to your office should also have text directions with it; a picture of a person should have alt text telling what the picture is, etc)......

There's more to SEO friendlines than CMS used. (as long as CMS creates valid html and has support for mod_rewrite)

I cant say I know much about this detective work done for making SEO friendly pages but I did get some hints from a friend who has struggled with this before.

First thing you need to do is start looking at your pages with lynx (or elinks or whatever text browser you prefer) as computers handle images as 0 and 1 they wont be helpfull :)

make your markup structural and valid.
use and sparingly (maybe one or two elements for a page)
make sure your content is up to date and meaningfull
menu is a list of links (so use )
put content before menu (in source that is)
check your pages for WAI accessibility (ive heard that it helps in some cases)

just my five sents :)

and taking all that ^^ into account the result is that Yes, CMSMS is SEO friendly.  More so than any other CMS - as its not SEO un friendly at least.  it can do it 'right' but the hard work is up to you (providing good useful and unique content)

0.13.beta1 sure is. With a new tweak of rewriting url's - it became fun. The only thing it lacks - different meta data for each news article.
