News or Blogging Paging Template

So I would rather have a paging format on my news and cgblog that looks more like this:

Or something very similar to what you see on areas all over cmsmadesimple.org including this forum.
However the default template produces:

I've done some searching on the forum and can't seem to find a way to change this. OR at least not in English.
Anyone know how to change this?
