Hi,

I've been reading into pretty URL's as I want to change my site to them. I've read the steps necessary to do this but one thing is not clear to me:

Will the .htaccess file in my root automatically provide me with a 301 redirect from my normal ?page=blabla to content/page.htm? Or is this even necessary? I'm asking this because I'm concerned about my pageranks.

Not necessary. If someone inputs the ?=page manually, it will be converted to the proper place. It does not matter whether the address to your page is specified as pretty or not, they (and bot) will see same content. But, pretty URLs are better for search engine indexing.
