can not re-install comments

Hi,

I had version 1.92 of the comments module installed, however because the comments where not shown in this version anymore, I followed the suggestion found on the forum to downgrade to version 1.8.2 what I did:
- Uninstall comments 1.9.2
- Left it in the Modules directory
- renamed the directory
- copied version comments 1.8.2 t th emodules directory
- installed it via the module manager
- saw that all previous made comments where gone  :'(
- uninstalled version 1.8.2
- renamed the directory comments
- copied comments version 1.9.2 to the module directory
- it tells me
      Missing Dependency
      Remove
- no install option
- tried it using the xml-file
- error that module is already installed ???

Any suggestion on how to get 1.9.2 installed again?
Are all my previous comments gone or are they still available?
Is there a way to go back to version 1.8.2 with the previous made comments, if still available?

Thanks for help and support,
Gregor

Gregor,

thing is that uninstalling, is the deletion of the tables AND with that the content in the tables... THe modules listing in the backend, basically checks the available folders in the \modules folder, and marks them as available. Depending if the tables in the database are there, it shows as installed, otherwise it asks to install. This will create the tables...

Hmmmmm, asked the provider to restore the database. Thanks Ronny for your quick reply.

Because version 1.9.2 does not show comments, is there a way to go back to version 1.8.2 AND to keep the data in the comments tables??

Path to follow:
- restore backup
- save comments_tables
- uninstall and delete version 1.9.2
- install version 1.8.2
- restore saved tables
