Error when upgrading to 0.12

I get the following error when trying to upgrade to o.12

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: getdb() in /home/swanages/public_html/install/upgrade.php on line 30

PLease help!

from what version are you upgrading?
My guess after looking at the code would be that there is something wrong with the configuration file.
