Thank god for internet explorer

In the top 10 of my "things I never thought I'd ever say" is "Thank God For Internet Explorer".
And yet I am today praising the crapulent, bloated, badly written, only-barely-standards-compliant-if-at-all, not-at-all-secure piece of Redmond excrement from the rafters. Why? Because thanks to the fact that I have to write cross-browser compatible code and test on 4 different versions of the browser, I have cached the css that I accidently wrote over and committed into my CMS Made Simple site.
Which brings me to the feature request. While I don't mind digging around in IE's cache it's hardly a rewarding experience and isn't always going to do the job. Would it be possible to do 1 or more of the following:
1.) Could we have some sort of versioning within content and (more importantly) templates and stylesheets? It's all too easy to overwrite something by mistake and sadly the "back" button isn't appropriate and there's no "undo" button.
2.) Is it possible to have daily backups as an integrated part of the CMS so that at least we just lose today's work rather than everything?
If these already exist but I somehow missed them please give me a slap and let me know
Cheers
Simon
