Hi,

Just installed CMSMS 1.6 for the first time, and trying out a new hosting company at the same time.

Installation was a breeze! I couldn't believe it - I've installed about 30 websites elsewhere and it was so painful compared to new host.

That's the good news

After installation, I created a new Page, and when it appeared I was unable to choose the Template.

Is there a checkbox somewhere now where I have to specify I want to be able to choose Templates on every new page?

I generally have several templates per website, so being able to choose the template on-the-fly is how I've been using CMSMS for the past few years.

Here's a snapshot of Ver. 1.5.4 and Ver 1.6, to show the missing 'Template' menu:

Template is part of the "basic properties" that are by default showing on the Options-tab.

This tab and all there is part of the "Manage all content" permission.

When you want this to be showing on the main-tab, then you can select the field in the advanced-tab of the GlobaSettings. All selected BasicProperties are showing on the main-tab then, and honour that permission.

All non-selected properties are on the options-tab, with the specific permission.

Ok, so basically Template drop-down has been moved to a different screen - under the OPTIONS tab. It's the one place I didn't look

Now I'll be able to let my clients know about this change in the way they've always used CMSMS.

Yep, this confused two of my clients too!

If you want it back, just select the "template" in GlobalSettings, under the advanced tab there, and it will show again on the main-tab.

Thing is that with 1.6 a new permission model came in, which made it possible to have users given permission on page-per-page base, and also that main-tab and options-tab are having 2 different permissions. So you can choose either where it shows, OR who can modify what without the full "Manage all content" permission... Without the full "Manage all content" permission, someone can only modify pages, where he has permission too, and only create pages UNDER pages where he has permission to...

To be honest, it didn't bother my clients at all, but it's always nice to know the reason in case I get asked.

I've just looked at SITE ADMIN / GLOBAL SETTINGS:



I looked at the Advanced settings - at the bottom is a box:



I clicked on 'Template' and Saved that, and now the Template option is available on the main data entry Content page again.
