Search Module - Automatic Reindex?

For some reason, when we update content, the search doesn't automatically reindex. Basically the new content is not found. Is there an option for automatic re-indexing?
AFAIK it reindexes new content every time you update a page.
If the re-indexing is not timing out or something.....
