Is there a way to turn off the automatic creation of image thumbnails uploaded to the "uploads/images" folder? I'm not creating a gallery of any kind but I have a variety of images I want my client to choose from with the image content block. However that list gets flooded with those darn thumb_imagename files. Essentially making it really hard to go through a list of images while those are packed in there too when they will never be used.

Don't upload them with the Image manager, use the file manager and put them in a subfolder. As long as you don't open the the folder with Image manager then the thumbnails won't get created.
