Hi

I am using the content :external link option on on a new page. I want to open up an external ink in anew windows.
The external link option works but there is no option to open it in a new windows. only option are none parent  blank self or top.

Elsewhere there are options for open in new window, but not here.

I am i missing something

As far as I understand "Blank" means "opening in a new window"

It is up to your browser configuration, if new windows open in new tab or new window of the browser


none, parent, self, blank, top = these are the correct arguments of HTML

Yep thats my understanding, when i use any of these settings, it opens up in the same windows.
Which in my case is firefox. It does not open in a new tab or a new window. Else where in CMSMS when you put a link on a page you have the option for _new window and thats works, but it does not seem to when using the external link option.

Hopefully some cmsms guru out there will know the answer.

Are you talking about 1.6 version? If yes I think that we have a bug there. Just installed 1.6 version today and external link with _blank option set opens in the same window. Look at page source - there is no _blank definition anywhere.

The target parameter is on the options-tab by default. When you want it on the main-tab set that in the Global Settings.

Either way, you must set the target-parameter in the page.

I know that the target option is on options page. I have _blank set in there. But external link opens in the same page:(

will have to check this then.... I just noticed another report mentioning that the _blank isnt working in external-links....

I guess it was me too:) I've posted bug report:)

I have completely clean 1.6 installation.

Try with calling {menu loadprops=1} so use the loadprops parameter in your news-call as well, that will load the extra parameters as well... For performance purposes, these parameters can be excluded from the menu-call.

Can you be more specific, where must I put this stuff?

I'm creating external link for one of my menu entries, not for some kind of news articles.
