Can someone please help?

I have successfully installed version 1.5.4, but when trying to click on one of the pre-installed page - or - trying to create a new page, I get this error message:
Server error!

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

Error message:
Premature end of script headers: editcontent.php

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
Error 500
I went to :  Site Admin » System Verification

uploaded the cmschecksum.php from the original /install/ folder on my desktop, and  ran the checksum

The message I now get is this:
1 Files Not found
Files Not found:
./', $line, 2); // split it into fields
I've been searching through the forum and can't find anything like this.

I have PHP 5

I have no errors in Site Admin » System Information

Can anyone offer any assistance?  At this point I can't create any pages or edit any pages.

Thanks in advance!

I would reupload at least the editcontent.php file.  If that doesn't fix it, reupload everything.  That's a quick fix for a whole range of issues.

Thanks for the suggestion jmcgin51.

Tried that, didn't work.

As it's only one issue, it seems a shame to have to reinstall the whole system for one error .... but if that's the only thing I can do to get CMSMS to work, I'll have to do it.

Cheers

Look in your error server log (or ask to your provider)
Probably you have a close mod_security on server

No desktop but root of your installation!

When logged in to the Admin Console Panel, you can go to :

Site Admin » System Verification

From there you need to click the Upload button, and find the file on your computer.

Then if there are errors, we can see what they are - like this:

Thanks

a.  cmschecksum.php is a standalone version of System Verification and not the file to upload to. If you put cmschecksum.php in root of your installation and run www.mysite.com/cmschecksum.php you have same upload form but without run in CMSMS (is useful if you cannot run CMSMS for errors)

b.  you must upload file cmsmadesimple-XXX-YYY-checksum.dat (relative to your version base or full) that you see in Download page

Thanks Alby for your help.

I've spent 5 days trying to solve this and tearing my hair out.

Spent countless hours on the forum reading so so many posts

Reinstalled several times, even created a new install in another folder on the hosting space - where cmsms worked perfectly, attached to original database, all was great.

Then back in normal root folder and still same problem.

Finally got a cmsms guru to help me, and the solution was ....

Changing the CHMOD 777's to 755

Somehow the hosting company had tweaked something when the site was hacked, and so the 777 was causing the problem.

I never thought to change that to 755 because this site had been live on this server for several years.

Now if only I could get back those five days :)

Phew! Relief is palpable.

With 500 error you have always many info in error log.
Probably you have a error info with a writing everyone (or worldwide) of your php (notice of 777)

Thanks Alby - I never knew this, and now I've learnt something new.

My hosting company is now telling me my 'cpu load' for that page is too high (10% - only allowed 5%).

This is a popular website - I'm thinking I may have been hacked, but I don't know how to find out. Any tips?

Cheers
