Email Newsletter help

New to CMSMS.
Running latest WAMPserver incl CMSMS 1.5.4 on an XP SP3 machine.
I administer a sporting club with 2500 members.
I currently write newsletters in Word and use ACT as my database and email client [inbuilt SMTP].
I want to send a weekly email newsletter using CMSMS and use CMSMS to manage my member subs and registrations.
Is this event possible to do in CMSMS?
Can someone point me to a user guide or documentation on how to setup and run the email newsletter, including the modules, templates needed.
I also need guidance with how to import my 2500 members from either xls or csv and how to add new members.
