Upgrade instructions

Hi there,

First, I want to thank this community for making CMS made simple availible, it sure has made my life a lot easier! :)

I tried finding an answer to my question searching the forum, but was unable to find it. I apologize in advance for asking this question if I've somehow overlooked the answer.

I recently upgraded from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3 to 1.5.4 using the full-diff packages, overwriting the files. Everything seems to be working fine. However, in the admin console I got a warning stating I should remove the install-dir. There is a install-dir present, which I removed after making a backup and everything still seems to work OK. However, the install-dir did contain a couple of language-files and two sql-files (extra.sql and initial.sql). I've tried finding instructions on what I should do with these files, but was unable to find them.

I gathered from another forum post (http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 928.0.html) that the ugrades I applied where file-upgrades only and no db-upgrade was nessesary, but it would have been nice to have had a readme-file present in the upgrade packages that actually confirmed this.

So my question is: with future upgrade packages, could you include a readme-file with instructions on how to perform the upgrade, even if they are as simple as "just overwrite the files"?

Thanks in advance!

Sushhh

Glad it went well for you in the end, but the problem is a lot of people don't read the things they need to so 1 out of hundreds may read it and the rest will come here and ask how to do it, which they can find the how to in the wiki/documentation that they don't seem to be reading either...

Hey Mark,

thx for your response. I guess you're right, most people don't bother to read instructions before getting to work, I am definitely guilty of that myself. I just thought it would be a quick win to leave instructions in the upgrade packages, since I think that is the first place people will look for them. I know I did...

Thanks again!
