Newbie lost on site conversion already!

Hi,
I've just downloaded and installed 1.5.3 and tried to follow teh instaructions to transfer a website that I did. Firstly I transfered a few files to a test domain which is
www.testing.celticwebsolutions.co.uk, then installed cms into a directory called cms.
Next step said to create a new page and copy the old page into the new one. I tried to do this by copying everything in the tag into the html editor of a new page. Then tried ot preview it and it was just showing an error, I then tried to preview it outside of teh page editor and it just showed some text and teh original page peel, the layout etc was totally useless. Is there some sort of guide for how to do this? Or am I asking too much of the software and actually have to redesign the webiste?
All your help will be gladly appreciated.

It depends to some extent on how your original site was designed. If you had static HTML pages and separate stylesheets, then you can paste your stylesheets into new CMSMS stylesheets, and paste your HTML page code into new CMSMS content pages.
If you had any scripting on your pages, you may need to handle this differently.
Can you post an example of the source code for one of your old pages? Also provide any errors that you were getting.

I just posted all the code and it showed it to me, then when I came back here it had gone again? What did I do wrong?

looks like you're on the right track.
In my experience, creating/styling the menu is the hardest part of a CMSMS site. Maybe it's just me...

the menus I need to use are java mixed with sgockwave, how can I get it to load the java menus to work then? Any ideas?

Exactly and you will need to check if the path to script is correct or make another folder SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js
