I am having difficulties trying to make a part of the menu look different than others. Actually I would like to have a separator space and maybe different color/text for a specific page (and it's childs). I tried 0.12b as well as 0.11 but I cannot do it in either (Bulletmenu vert). All I need is a class definition for a custom page, or maybe a for coloring multiple items.

Is it worth playing with 0.12b's templates or functions, or I shell look into PiMenu or similar alternative?

BTW, if I only need a separator space between two menu item, what is the easiest method to do it?

There is a separator content type that you can use.  Create new content, change content type to separator.  Most of the menus know about this and will render it accordingly.
