[solved] WYSIWYG

I have a site that will not allow the editor to show when I am attempting to edit content/pages. The checkbox is enabled, but there is no editor. In other words I am in the HTML editor all of the time. If I toggle the check box, nothing happens.
Any clues. I installed this on two other new sites the today and both of them work perfect and this one does not. Same server, same version, same templates.....
I have TinyMCE installed and I have tried Xinha and neither one of them activate when I open a page for editing. I have checked and double checked my permissions and all of them are the same. This has to be something simple.

In Admin, under the My Preferences/User Preferences menu item, is TinyMCE selected in the "Select WYSIWYG to use:" field?

I did manage to get Tinymce to work, but I had to set the config file option in the advanced settings.
There are two small problems I am dealing with now. The image browser fails when I attempt to insert an image. If I provide the URL, it works, but if I attempt to locate the image with the browser - it fails with a server 500 error.
Also the insert link button is inactive and I can't seem to turn it on.

Did you try just hitting the Reset all to Defaults button in the advanced tab before using the config option, there are a few threads/post about how to get tiny to work...
You got a Yup... from me because you didn't provide any of the information requested in the Read first post as to how to get an answer in the forum...
When a request for help is posted we try to duplicate the problem on one of our installs, or look at your configuration but with a post like "my tiny don't work, why" it makes it real hard to help diagnose the problem as it could one of numerous problems, was it an upgrade, a server/site move, etc., yea we've had these problems before but our system may/is diff. then yours so as always the more info we get the better...
TinyMCE Is Generating Server Errors

I am running CMSMS version 1.5.3 with TinyMCE 2.4.11. This is a brand new installation with only minor changes to some stylesheets. I used the same distribution for three installations running on an Apache server (Linux 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5PAE On i686). Php is version 5.25 with MYSQL version 5.0.51a.
I did try what you suggested to reset all defaults, but that did not get the editor to show. I just tried it again in the middle of this post, and it did not seem to correct the problem. As soon as I check the config box, the editor shows up.
At this point the editor is mostly operational and now with only one issue (it affects two functions).
1. Attempting to insert a stored image (in /uploads): when I click the browse button I get the following server error ->
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@thecreativeguitar.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
2. If I try to add a link (this works now) and click the browse button: I get the exact same error as in number 1.
Thanks for the suggestions and sorry that I did not include enough information to get you a clear picture of what is happening.
Bud

Ok so what are the permissions for the module folder?...
I have posted a few diff. work arounds for tiny problems, if you search, using the advanced option, for tiny and mark, as user, you will get quite a few...

OK I did part of what you suggested.
1. Changed permissions to 755 for /modules
2. Removed all files from /tmp/templates_c
3. Cleared site cache
Perfect. Fantastic. This was really beginning to bug me. The strange thing again is four sites, same distribution, same versions, same servers and this is the only one I had to tweak. Go figure. It works now and I am grateful for the support.
