Linux uncompresses but missing files

HI, I'm a newbie and encountered problems from square one.  I don't think my download was successfully uncompressed on my web server (for example there are no dirs -tmp- -tmp/templates_c-  ETC. referred to on step 4 of you help quick install guide.

Here's my config as best I can tell:
Trying to install CMS MS 1.5.3, using PHP 5.x hosted by godaddy LINUX OS.  I downloaded the code to my WIN/XP computer, then uploaded it (as is) to the host server using an FTP pgm (CORE LITE FTP).  After loging on to the host account, I used their file manager and double clicked on the file which appeared to uncompress the file creating an expanded folder/file structure which I considered 'successful'.

I am anxious to try your product and any help or suggestions are appreciated.   thanx  Kent

I see the folder/file structure, but my concern was that I can't find files referred to in the install guide step 4, where I'm suppose to change permissions.  It references these folders:  tmp, tmp/templates_c, tmp/cache etc.
None are found on my host site??

I took a snapshot from my ftp program and attached it

Which download should i have used???    I'm starting from scratch, the full version "cmsmadesimple-1.5.3-full.tar.gz " is probably what I needed??  Yes/no ??

I am currently reporting this problem from the download "cmsmadesimple-full-diff-1.5.2-1.5.3.tar.gz  "

For a fresh install, yes use the base unless you need more than one lang, then use the full...

The diff. files are for already installed 1.5.2 to 1.5.3...

GREAT Mark, thanks I'll try starting over with this version "cmsmadesimple-1.5.3-base.tar.gz "
