PunBB mod

I installed PunBB module and found it very easy to setup. It’s really an "instant form" for cmsms. Thank you Developers.
I'm wondering one thing though. The PunBB database is now shared with the cmsms database (right?). Can this be a problem if I would like to install punBB modules? I tried installing a small smiley module into punBB but failed and wonder if that may be the reason.
