I have used CMSMS before for a client and love how easy it is for them to edit the pages rtc.. however another clients wants a cms system that is easy BUT has to have the following features

Different user roles... someone will be administator with full access rights in the admin area and then others will just have content change rights... ie edit the page content and nothing more

Which leads to this one, which is a key feature they need... the people with content editing rights only can click on save and the content is saved BUT not published to the live site... the admin then has to go in and click publish ( or something ) after they have proof read the content

change the admin layout so people with page editing rights dont see all the sections in admin... meaning they cant change settings they shouldnt do

Finally.... they will want certain blocks of content on the right side.. ie a calender or a news story or a large image that will need to be on various pages / sections and then on other sections different blocks... is this possible so they can edit those blocks and it doesnt need to be edited on every page?

is this all possible? or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Different rights for different users is no problem, you can create groups for editors and designers, each with various permissions. The admin interface will only show the options that user has access to.

For the global content blocks, you want to use.. well.. global content blocks.

As for the approval-before-publishing option, it looks like this is upcoming functionality (maybe version 2?) but perhaps someone can confirm that. There may be a module that does it to some degree, but I'm not sure.
