I'm so lost it's not funny.

I couldn't find a tutorial on this site for installing CMS so I used the tutorial on http://www.wtricks.com/forums/install-c ... tml?t=4712. I downloaded the cmsmadesimple-1.5.2-full.tar.gz file and unzipped everything. I put it all in a subdirectory on my site because for right now I am only testing it out.
Then, following the same tutorial I wanted to create a database (as instructed by the tutorial), so I used their suggested tutorial for doing so at http://www.wtricks.com/forums/create-da ... 4144. The guy clearly states that some beginners may have trouble so he wants to clear everything up for everyone. However, his tutorial doesn't even start at what would be a sensible beginning for someone who is considered a beginner. He says "In order to create the database and user in cPanel, you need to have cPanel access. Please log in with the username and password provided by your host when creating the account." Well, where do I go to find this sought after cPanel? My underpants?
Don't get me wrong, I am not being a smartass towards CMS. Just that guy. Its really frustrating when people write tuts that don't even begin to cater towards individuals who need it the most. On the other hand, I could just be THAT stupid. Please don't tell me I am stupid.
I feel this service would advance me greatly in my web design. If anyone could help me it would be appreciated. Please/thanks.
I did go to the index of the cms files which is http://mywebsitename.com/cmstesting/ (not my real website name of course) and it displayed the "install/upgrade system" header but said "Session module is disabled or missing in your PHP, you have problem with some modules and functionality! Ask your provider, exiting!" I don't know what all that means.
And when I try to go to certain pages like preview.php I get a message displayed:
Database Connection Failed
Error: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) (2003)
Function Performed: CONNECT
Host/DB: localhost/cms
Database Type: mysql
I assume the database connection failed because I haven't created a Database yet.
